The Fishing Cooperative “Friška riba” participated in the festival “Fishermen and Fishermen’s Complaints,” organized by the Association for Nature, Environment and Sustainable Development Sunce. The festival brought together numerous participants with the aim of promoting sustainable development, marine protection, and a responsible attitude toward the environment.
For many years, the Fishing Cooperative “Friška riba” has been actively educating its cooperative fishermen about the importance of proper waste management and marine conservation. Through participation in various projects and initiatives, the cooperative continuously contributes to raising awareness about protecting the marine environment and reducing waste in the sea.
A special achievement was recently accomplished through winning the Ocean Hackathon, where the innovative idea “Waste Collection System from Fishing Vessels – A Recycling Yard at Sea” was presented. The project was recognized as an important contribution to sustainable fisheries and the protection of the Adriatic Sea.
In addition, on November 14, 2025, a workshop on proper waste disposal was held at the port, with the aim of further educating fishermen and strengthening responsible environmental practices.
The Fishing Cooperative “Friška riba” will continue to actively invest effort, educate, and engage in reducing marine waste and leaving a cleaner and healthier marine environment for future generations.
